I think it’s important before choosing a counsellor that you should know a little about that person. I am in my sixties and had a change of direction in mid life which led me to enter this profession. With my background I feel that I can offer a lifetimes experience from a work / life perspective that could be helpful with issues that could arise in our exploration of what you may bring into the sessions. I had many years working at different levels, this culminating with me employing quite a number of staff and feel that this experience puts me in good stead to emphasise with many situations around the workplace from an employer and an employee perspective. I also feel that other life experiences have helped me in my time as a therapist to be able to empathise and explore many of the anxieties that life can throw at us.

Taking the first steps to seek out a counsellor can be a fearful time and we as therapists may not be the correct match for every individual. My aim would be to offer you a supportive environment that feels emotionally safe where we can work together and give you the opportunity to speak freely without fear of what others might think. When someone looks for a counsellor it is often because there is something happening in life they want to explore, this maybe: low self-esteem, lacking confidence, depression, anxiety, stress, grief, or other mental health concerns. We can work together at your own pace to address whatever it is you bring to our sessions.

I offer couples counselling and the EMDR Modality. EMDR is a therapy used for PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and also for high levels of anxiety as well as for phobias. If you are unsure of any of the modalities that I offer, you can contact me and we can discuss your requirements and perhaps have an initial meeting where we can look at how we may work together. There is no commitment after this first session as to whether you want to continue.
